In our small and crowded country, every meter in the house is significant (and pricey!). The lack of space caused the "enclosed balconies" trend to emerge. People preferred to give up on their balcony and use its space to enlarge their living room.
However, COVID-19 pandemic has created a new reversed trend. People came to realized that an open balcony is necessary for their mental health. In the case of this apartment on the outskirts of Rothschild, Tel Aviv, we turned the wheel back and rebuilt the balcony that had previously been canceled. We resealed it, floored it with cool retro tiles, the owner filled it with greenery, and a quiet special corner was obtained. Now she can enjoy the open air and sip coffee her in peace. What more can you ask for?
What would you prefer? A larger living room or an open balcony?
